Comrade Prince Eloka Agana, the SUG President of the prestigious University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC), has broken his silence on lingering issues of power supply in the institution.
According to his memo,
1. For the past days we have been not been having Power Supply . This has not been on the best for anyone.
2. Yesterday the 27th of February the Executive council led by the President met with the Deputy Vice Chancellor to tender our dissatisfaction on the issue , on consolidation we found that our school was not owing EEDC and we came to a conclusion to Visit EEDC today.
3. The President led his team to the Head of Operations , EEDC who kindly explained with proof why we have not been having Power lately ranging from the poor generation of power supply by the Generating Companies , the upgrade of the power transmission by the Transmission Companies and the work currently ongoing on the UNEC Feeders.
4. As at Today the Nation generated just 3500MW of Electricity meanwhile EEDC got just 258MW to distribute to South East . This has led to the drop in power supply.
5. The council took a stance that students are writing examinations and we must have power that’s why we had power supply this afternoon to get back at night.
6. We promise the Student that Power will come back to UNEC Regularly till all works at UNEC Feeder is completed in the next 75 days for us to return to our 20 hours Daily Power Supply.
7. We look forward to your cooperation this period as we work optimistically for favourable power supply.
8. Good luck and Success ahead in your Examination.
